The Bay Times and Record Observer July 29, 2022 Page 15 David Mills Burneston STEVENSVILLE David Mills Bur- neston of Stevens- ville, MD passed away peacefully at his home on July 19. He was 70. Born on July 5, 1952, he was the son of George Irwin Burneston, Jr. and Edna Byrom Bur- neston. Dave was an integral member of the National Geographic Traveler magazine as the production director, where he retired after 30 years and was an active member of the Knights of Co- lumbus at the state and local level for 22 years.

He loved taking care of his yard and vegetable garden, telling jokes and was an extremely proud grandfather. He spent countless week- ends camping and adventuring in Lancaster County, PA with his wife and friends. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Garufi Burneston; his children: Beatrix Keri Burneston, Sarah Marie White, Adam Rob- ert White and Elaina Marie Lantz (married to Mathew); his grandchildren, Carrigan and Dawson Lantz; and his siblings: George Irwin Burneston, III (Kathy), Clayton Burneston (Jo Ann), Barbara Carrigan (Dann), Sherry Grove (John) and Paul Burneston (Marie). A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 am on Wednesday, July 27 at St. Catholic Church with a reception to follow.

Aretta Marie Griffin CHURCH HILL Beloved wife, mother, and grandmother Aretta Marie Griffin went home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 21, 2022.

She was 90 years old. Born September 1, 1931, to David and Carrie Stranahan Baynard she was the youngest of nine siblings. On December 23rd, 1950 she married the love of her life John Paul Griffin. They were married for 71 beautiful years. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, James Baynard, Ned Bay- nard, Stanley Baynard, and her sisters, Rebecca Crouse, Evelyn Kemp, Grace Dadds, Violet Pinder, and Ida Mae Baynard.

After attending St. High School, she fondly remembered working next door to her home, at the Kirkham gas and gro- cery store, and spoke affectionately of the own- ers that treated her like family. Rettsy often lovingly recalled her childhood memories of living on the farm, loving living on the water, and playing sports. After marrying, she worked at the defense plant in Chestertown and by grace, escaped the historical explosion unharmed. When her children were young she enjoyed volunteering as a librarian at Church Hill elementary school.

Later in life, she de- voted her time to being a full-time mother, wife, and grandmother. Affectionately known to all as Miss Rettsy, or Mom Ret, she never met anyone she call a friend and would always greet you with the big- gest hug. A devout Christian woman of strong faith she was a dedicated member of Church Hill United Methodist Church. She, a breast cancer survivor dedicated countless hours to attending survivor meetings sharing her un- derstanding and providing encouragement and compassion to those experiencing the same. She is survived by her adoring husband and their two children, Jane Jensen and her husband Bob, John Paul Griffin Jr.

and his wife Tammy, and two grandsons John Beville and his wife Christy, John Paul Griffin III and his wife Kate, a great-grandson, Mason Beville, step-grandchildren, Brian Jensen, Jennifer Nut- ley, and several step-great-grandchildren, one step-great-great-grandson and several nieces and nephews. Rettsy will always be remembered as a fierce protector of her family and friends whom she considered herself beyond blessed to have. She will be deeply missed by all who had the chance to know and love her. Services will be held at Fellows, Helfenbein, Newnam Funeral home in Centreville Mary- land Wednesday, July 27th, 2022 at noon. A visitation will be held 2 hours prior from the funeral home.

Interment to follow at Church Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Church Hill United Methodist Church, PO Box 155, Church Hill, MD 21623 Online condolences may be made at www.fh- nfuneralhome.com Louise Mitchell Price (Davidson) STEVENSVILLE (Davidson) Lou- ise Mitchell Price (Age 96) of Stevens- ville, Maryland, died peacefully on June 24, 2022, at Easton Memorial Hospital in Easton, Maryland. Daughter of the late Pauline Jackson Da- vidson and Philip Thomas Davidson, Louise was born in Stevensville, Mary- land, on June 11, 1926. She graduated from Stevensville High School and Anne Arundel Community College, taught third grade at Ar- nold Elementary School, and was a life-long resident of Queen County. Louise is survived by six children: Carole P.

Frederick, Pamela P. Sawyer, and Charles C. Price III, of Stevensville, Maryland; Patrice P. Preston (Bruce) of Baltimore, Maryland; Dae- na P. Feldman of Annapolis, Maryland; and Tilghman E.

Price (Nina) of Potomac, Mary- land; ten grandchildren: Ron, Laurie, Cayle, Wilson, Sarah, John, Gibbs, Palma, Cecilia, and Evan; five great-grandchildren: Zachary, Alex, Preston, Magnolia, and Jackson; and nu- merous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Charles Clayland Price, son, Geoffrey M. Price; grandson, Wesley S. Sawyer; and grand- daughter, Katie Feldman. A private memorial service was held at His- toric Christ Church in Stevensville, followed by interment at Stevensville Cemetery.
