Celebrations of Life Imelda Hardy (Thompson) VALLEY LEE Imelda (Mel) Thomp- son Hardy entered into eternal rest on Satur- day, December 11, 2021 at her home in Valley Lee, Maryland sur- rounded by her family. She was born on May 4, 1949 in Valley Lee, Maryland to Turner Thomas Thompson and Roberta (Campbell) Thompson the youngest of eight children. Due to the death of her mother when she was 15 months old, Elizabeth Mary Jane Thompson became her She completed her primary education at St. Peter Claver Elemen- tary School and Cardinal Gibbons High School in Ridge, Maryland. She attended Bowie State College where she pledged Zeta Phi Beta, Sorority Incorpo- rated and obtained her degree in Educa- tion.

While at Bowie State College, she met Herbert Langston Hardy Jr. and they married on December 12, 1970. During their 51 years of marriage, they lived in three different states and were blessed with three children, Carla, Kevin, and Brian. 30 year teaching career spanned three states, Mary- land, Illinois and Indiana, starting in Maryland at District Heights Elementary School. While teaching in Evansville, IN, she obtained her Degree in Education from Indiana State University and in 2005, she retired from the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation.

In 2006, she and her husband built their retirement home on the family farm in Valley Lee, Maryland. She spent her retirement days continuing to serve as a substitute teacher at Piney Point Elementary School and volunteering for Meals on Wheels. She was also active with St. church activities, teaching CCD and supporting fundraising dinners. She was preceded in death by her father, her mother and her mom; three broth- ers, (James) Frank Thompson, Charles Thompson, and Turner Thompson, two sisters, Marguerite Hagins and Elizabeth (Betty) Morgan; two sister- in-laws Thomsasine Thompson and Lois Thomp- son; and one Godson Andre Morgan.

Mel leaves to cherish her memory her husband Herbert Langston Hardy, her brother Bernard Thompson and her sister Ellen Andrews (Charles); her children, Carla Hardy Milton (Chris) of Clovis, CA, Kevin Lamont Hardy of Jacksonville, FL, and Brian Irving Hardy of Newburgh, IN; her brother in laws Raynor Hardy (Ilma) and David Hardy. Affectionately known as Mimi, she also leaves eight grandchildren, Peyton Wallis (Anthony), Milton, Kendall Milton, Langston Hardy, Dominic Hardy, Camden Hardy, Cambree Hardy and Kinsley Hardy; three great grandchildren, Noelle Wallis, Ariyanna Wallis and Preston James Wallis; two Godsons, Paul Thomp- son and Tyree Harris; and a host of nieces, neph- ews, family and friends. What Mel most enjoyed was attending her and activi- ties and events always cheering them on to do their very best and ensuring that they understand that their education comes first. Visitation will be held on Wednesday December 22, 2021 from p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home Chapel 20605 Aquasco Road Aquasco, Maryland 20608.

Visita- tion will continue on Thursday December 23, 2021 at St. George Catholic Church 19199 Saint Georges Church Rd, Valley Lee, MD 20692 from 10:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial 12:00 p.m. Interment St. George Church Cemetery.

Aquasco, Maryland www.Adamsfuneralhomemd.com James Christopher Schlag NANJEMOY James Christopher Schlag, known to his family and friends as passed away November 26, 2021 in LaPlata, Maryland after a battle with colon cancer. He was 67 years old. Jimmy was born in 1955, in Alexandria, Vir- ginia, the son of Clarence Schlag and Helen Schlag. He grew to be a man who loved to be around people, his many friends, his large family.

He loved to share a beer with loved ones and play music for as long as he could last, and he entertained his relatives frequent- ly with stories of youthful exploits, often reck- less, but always amusing. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers William A. Schlag and Mi- chael T. Schlag. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Samantha as well as his ex- wife Deborah, along with his brothers John Doyle and Stephen Schlag as well as his sis- ters Christina Bell, Kathleen Elrod, Patricia Clark and Pamela as well as a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and fellow musicians.

John Garza WALDORF, MD John Garza, 87, of Waldorf, Maryland passed away at his home on December 10, 2021. He was born on August 29,1934 in New Braunfels, Texas to the late Henry Garza and Consuelo Garza. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. John grew up in San Antonio, Texas. He later joined the Air Force and was stationed at Airforce Base in Maryland.

This is where he met the love of his life, Barbara, and made Maryland his forever home. In 1996, he retired from Giant as a meat cutter after working there 18 years and 36 years with the union. Following retirement, he worked part- time at Annapolis Seafood in Waldorf. John loved his family and friends. He was a selfless man and always thinking of others.

He was a Washington Redskins fan and lover of all things Elvis. John was also known for being a great cook and especially famous for his soups and his potato salad. John is survived by his two daughters Deborah Ann Forbes and Brenda Lee Wilkinson; three grandchildren, Ashley Tomlinson (William), Carter Forbes (Kelli), and Amanda Forbes; six great-grandchildren; sisters Lupe Lopez, Henrietta Acosta (Jesse), Stella Rodriguez, Virginia Vara; brother, Charles Garza; and sister-in-law Lorraine Boccabella. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Barbara Ann Garza; son, John Barry Garza; and brother, Joe Garza. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 20, 2021 from and at Raymond Funeral Service, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646, where a service will be held Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at 11:00 am.

Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens. Lisso Charles Dubriel WALDORF Lisso Charles Dubriel (a.k.a Beso or Charlie) was born December 15, 1951. He passed away on December 5, 2021 in the comfort of his home in Waldorf, MD. He was born in Honey Island, Texas to Helen Jenkins and Charles Dubriel. He grew up in Los Angeles, CA with his mom and sister.

He is survived by his wife Tina (Stewart) Dubriel, sister Mary Jo Dubriel, three children Davon, Melissa, Gina, and five grandchildren Adrian, Jared Isaiah, Aquila and Desmond. Geraldine Hamilton Allen ACCOKEEK Geraldine Hamilton Allen, 85, of Accokeek, MD died December 14, 2021. Friends will be received at the Williams Funeral Home on Monday, December 20, 2021 at 10 AM until time of funeral service at 12 noon. Internment Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf MD. Doris Marie Shirriel (Proctor) WALDORF Doris Marie (Proctor) Shirr- iel, cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend quietly departed this life dur- ing the early hours of Friday November 19, 2021 and went home to be with her Lord and Savior. Born August 20, 1940, she was the daughter of the late John Oscar Proctor and the late Elizabeth Marie (Richardson) Proctor. She retired from CVS after 48 years of ser- vice where she made many lifelong friends while working as a ca- shier and then promoted to photo supervisor. Doris met and married her first love James Buster Swann, May 1957, and together they had three daughters before his death in May 1960. Doris later met and married the love of her life Joseph Percell Shirriel, November 1963, and together they had one son and two daughters.

Doris was also blessed with Joseph daughter. She leaves to cherish her memories her 6 children, 13 grandchildren, 9 great grand- daughters, and 1 great grandson. Her grand- children and great grandchildren were the center of her world. Doris had a heart of gold and tried to spread joy and friendship to everyone she met. Memorial services were held for Doris on Monday, November 29, 2021, at Thorn- ton Funeral home and St.
