Don was born in May of 1934 in Weymouth, MA to the late Dr. Phillip Hubbard Lee and Edith Lillian Lee (nee Mitnick).

Don attended Thayer Academy, graduating in June of 1952. He then pur- sued a Mechanical Engineer- ing Degree at the University of Massachusetts, graduat- ing in 1956. After graduation Don joined the United States Navy and graduated at the top of his OCS class. Don served in the Navy Civil Engineering Corps (Sea- bee). While stationed in Quonset, Rhode Island, LT Donald S.

Lee met his fu- ture wife, LT Eureka (Reka) Cleo Mumpower, a US Navy nurse. Don and Reka were married on 6 August 1960 and in 2020 celebrated 60 years together. After his ac- tive duty time, Don transi- tioned to the Navy Reserves where he served through 1970. After the Navy, ca- reer took his family to a number of states and even England before settling in Maryland in 1971. During the course of career he built two successful coil manufacturing businesses, received a number of patent approvals, was the recipi- ent of several professional awards and was a published author of many technical ar- ticles.

Don was also a found- ing member of the EMCWA (Electrical Manufacturing and Coil Winding Associa- tion), where he served as board member for many years and was the recipient of the 1996 Hall of Fame award. Don loved sailing, building boat models and woodworking. Several of Don and children and grandchildren have con- tinued the history of serving their country: Mark Lee (US Navy), Gary McCluskey (US Army and US Navy), Jus- tin Freeman Aaron Mc- (US Navy), and Alex Pincus (USMC). Don is preceded in death by his wife, Eureka Cleo Lee and his brother, Norman Hubbard Lee. Don is survived by his daughter Carol I.

Freeman and husband John Freeman (Bel Air, MD), son Mark R. Lee and wife Tammy Lee (TX), daughter Diane C. Mc- Cluskey and husband Gary McCluskey (CA), daughter Tanya J. Lee (Essex, MD); grandchildren: Jason S. Free- man (Bel Air, MD), Candace I.

Pincus (Freeman) and husband Alex Pincus (CA), Justin S. Freeman (Bel Air, MD), Aaron P. McCluskey (CA), Ethan K. McCluskey (CA); sister Barbara Litzen and husband Donald (FL); sister-in-law Mary Jane Lee (OH) and a number of nieces and nephews. In keeping with wishes, his remains were donated to the Maryland State Anatomy Board for the furtherance of education and research.

The family is plan- ning to hold a celebration of life at a later date. Reka passed at home surrounded by her family.

Reka was born in October of 1931 in Ap- a a i a i i i a to Charles a Mumpower and Agnes a i Mumpower (nee Hillman). She was the third of their seven children and the only daughter, af- fectionately known as Reka attended Appalachia High School, graduating in June of 1950. She then pur- sued a Nursing degree at the University of Virginia Hospital School of Nursing, graduat- ing in September 1953. After graduation, she returned to Appalachia and worked at Norton Community Hospital briefly before deciding to join the United States Navy. Reka served as both a ward nurse and head nurse in the US Navy from 6 May 1954 to 30 June 1960.

She was a Korean War veteran and attained the rank of Lieutenant. While stationed in Quonset, Rhode Island LT Eureka C. Lee met her future husband LT Don- ald S. Lee. Reka and Don were married on 6 August 1960 and in 2020 celebrated 60 years together.

Though Reka left the Navy to get married, career took them to a number of states and even England be- fore settling in Maryland in 1971. focus after mar- riage became the care of her husband and her growing family. She was a devoted mother to her 4 children and a second mom to many neigh- borhood children. As her children began to grow up, she began providing day care for some of the younger chil- dren in the neighborhood and eventually for her own grand- children. Several of Don and children and grand- children have continued the history of serving their country: Mark Lee (US Navy), Gary McCluskey (US Army and US Navy), Justin Freeman (USMC), Aaron Mc- Cluskey (US Navy), and Alex Pincus (USMC).

Reka was known to her family and her friends for her kind heart, gentle spirit and selfless love for other people. Her love of the Lord Jesus and her strong faith were evident in the way she lived her life. Reka loved gardening and spent much time caring for her flowers and growing fresh vegetables. For many years Reka was an active member of the Back River Method- ist Church of Essex, and a regular bible study and home group participant. Reka is preceded in death by her parents Charles Baker Mumpower and Agnes Hill- man Mumpower, brothers Thevenow Mumpower and Waymon Mumpower, and sister-in-law Floraine (Boots) Church Mumpower.

Reka is survived by her hus- band Donald S. Lee, daughter Carol I. Freeman and husband John Freeman (Bel Air, MD), son Mark R. Lee and wife Tammy Lee (TX), daughter Diane C. McCluskey and hus- band Gary McCluskey (CA), daughter Tanya J.

Lee (Essex, MD); grandchildren: Jason S. Freeman (Bel Air, MD), Can- dace I. Pincus (Freeman) and husband Alex Pincus (CA), Justin S. Freeman (Bel Air, MD), Aaron P. McCluskey (CA), Ethan K.

McCluskey (CA); brothers: Eldon (Ed) Mumpower and wife Doro- thy, Harry Mumpower and wife Carolyn, Sherman (Gale) Mumpower and wife Peggy, Charles Mumpower and wife Siegelinda (Linda); and many nieces and nephews. In keeping with pas- sion for helping others and fostering education, her re- mains were donated to the Johns Hopkins Memory and disease research program. The family is plan- ning to hold a celebration of life at a later date.
