Dean WINGATE F. Dean, 77, of Wingate, passed away Wednesday January 11, 2006 at the Memorial Hospital at Easton. He was born at Hoopers Island June 24, 1928, a son of the late W. Bruce and Hazel Aaron Dean. Mr.

Dean attended Cambridge High School. During the later part of World War II he served in the U.S. Navy. Well known as a boat builder, he learned these skills as an apprentice under Bronza Parks. Mr.

Dean was also a waterman. In the mid 1980s he established a marine business which continues in operation today. Throughout his lifetime he was devoted to music, especially bluegrass music and gospel music. Mr. Dean enjoyed singing at various functions, including entertaining at local nursing homes, as part of a group known as the Wingate Town Ramblers.

He later performed with Almost Home, Sacred Sounds and Friends Dreams. Mr. Dean was a devoted member of the Taylors Island United Methodist Church. He had been in failing health since August and had been a patient at the Memorial Hospital at Easton, where he passed away early Wednesday morning, since the previous Saturday. Mr.

Dean was first married to Catherine Moore Dean, who passed away July 19, 1991. From this marriage Mr. Dean is survived by a daughter, Elaine Pohl of Cambridge, and a son, F.O Dean Jr. of Seattle, Washington; five grandchildren Franklin Pohl of New Hampshire, Shelly Smith of Delaware, Jacynth Pohl and Steven Pohl, both of Maryland, and Brandy Layne Dean of Sumner, Washington and five great grandchildren. Mr.

Dean is also survived by his wife Mary Frances Abbott, who he married February 17, 1968. From this marriage Mr. Dean is survived by two daughters, Cathy Donaldson and Cherri Parry; son, Eddie Abbott; five grandchildren Michelle Moxey, Lauren Zdundowski, Leanne Mills, Angela Abbott and Bryan Abbott and three great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Jackie Banning of Roswell, Georgia. Margaret MacLaughlin CAMBRIDGE Margaret L.

MacLaughlin, age 92, of Cambridge, died Tuesday morning January 10, 2006, from complications following a stroke, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Owego, New York. She was born January 20, 1913 in Cambridge, the daughter of the late Samuel LeCompte and Lucy Hearn LeCompte. She was raised and educated in Cambridge, graduating from Cambridge High School in 1930, after which she moved to Philadelphia where she became employed at the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science. She was secretary to the President of the College when she retired shortly after her marriage to Prof. Edmund H.

MacLaughlin June 13, 1941. The MacLaughlins moved to a farm near Lansdale, where they raised their family. She was active in community affairs, in the North Wales Baptist Church, President of the PTA, and along with her husband was a charter member of the Upper Gwynedd Lions Club of Lions International. When her husband retired in 1967, they moved to their home on Cedar Grove Road, near East New Market, MD. Prof.

MacLaughlin died November 20, 1970. In 1976 Mrs. sister, Florence Vickers, resided with her and in September of 1980, they moved to make their home at Jenkins Creek, Cambridge, MD. Mrs. MacLaughlin had been a member of the First Baptist Church of Cambridge MD since 1928.

After her return to Cambridge, she was active in her programs and served as church secretary from 1969 to 1976. Until her illness, she was a principle pianist, sang in the choir, and actively participated in most major functions of the church. She served as a volunteer for twenty-six years at the E.S.H.C., and volunteered at Sunny Day Pre-School and Chesapeake Woods Nursing Home. Surviving is a son Dr. Edmund J.

MacLaughlin and his wife Cheryl of Cambridge, MD, two daughters Marjory Watson and her husband Lewis of Falls Church VA, Betty Frandsen and her husband Jim of Owego, NY, seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, four nieces, and great-nieces and great- nephews. Preceding her in death besides her spouse and parents was a sister Florence Vickers, and two brothers William A. LeCompte and Samuel H. LeCompte. The family will receive friends on Tuesday night from 7 to 9 at Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A.

Funeral services will be held at Curran-Bromwell Funeral Home, P.A., on Wednesday, Jan. 18th at 1:00 p.m. Officiating at the service will be The Rev. Randall Blackmon, assisted by Rev. M.

Brent Coleman and Dr. C. Bruce Revel. Burial will follow at East New Market Cemetery. Memorial offerings may be made to First Baptist Church of Cambridge, 501 Glenburn Cambridge, MD 21613 or Faith Baptist Fellowship, Mrs.

Bruce Dean Jr. A funeral service was held Saturday afternoon, Jan. 14, at the Whitehaven United Methodist Church at Church Creek with the Rev. Robert S. Kirkley officiating.

Interment followed at Dorchester Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Tony Hayden, Donnie Simmons, W. Lance Bramble, Dickie Dawson, Phil Jones and Benny Parks. Arrangments were through the Thomas Funeral Home in Cambridge. Memorial contributions may be made to the Taylors Island United Methodist Church, Mrs.

Louise Creighton, P.O. Box 95, Church Creek, 21622. Vicky Lynn Towers FEDERALSBURG Vicky Lynn Towers of Federalsburg, died Friday, January 13, 2006 near Federalsburg as a result of a vehicular accident at the age of 44. She was born August 14, 1961 in Easton, the daughter of Linford Merrick of Salisbury and the late Charlotte Thomas Merrick. She was a graduate of North Dorchester High School Class of 1979.

She was a member of Brookview United Methodist Church, where she served on the Board of Trustees. She was a passionate Little League Baseball fan and a member of the Colonel Richardson Baseball Boosters. She was employed at Preston Ford in Preston. Besides her father, she is survived by a step mother, Cindy Merrick of Salisbury; her husband, Ricky K. Towers, whom she married Dec.

22, 1984; four children, Joshua D. Merrick of Cambridge, Nicole E. Wielgosz of Federalsburg, Lindsey M. Towers of Harmony and Justin R. Towers of Federalsburg; four grandchildren Kurstin and Austin Merrick, Caleb Justice and Kaylee Sard; two sisters, Tracy Wilson of Cambridge and Lisa Merrick of Hebron.

An infant son, Dustin Phillip Towers, preceded her in death Jan. 21, 1988. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, Jan. 16, at the Brookview United Methodist Church in Brookview, with Rev. Delmer Willey officiating.

Pallbearers were Michael Justice, Jason Sard, Laird Douglas, John Stonesiefer, Clark Simms and David Wilson Sr. Interment followed in East New Market Cemetery. Arrangements were through the Framptom Funeral Home, P.A. in Federalsburg. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Brookview United Methodist Church, Clark Simms, 5474 Indiantown Road, Rhodesdale, 21659.

William Hunt Walcott Jr. EASTON William Hunt Walcott Jr. of Londonderry Retirement Community in Easton, formerly of Cambridge, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2006 in Heartfields Assisted Living in Easton. He was predeceased by Barbara Ann Caton Walcott, his wife of 64 years. Born August 27, 1913 in Rio, West Virginia, he was the oldest son of William H.

Walcott, MD, and Marguerite Morse Walcott. He grew up in the small towns of Southwestern Virginia and attended Central High in Washington, D.C be- James Unsworth CAMBRIDGE James E. Unsworth, 67, of Cambridge passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at Dorchester General Hospital. A funeral service will be held Friday, January 20, at 1 p.m. at the Maryland Cemetery of the Eastern Shore Chapel near Hurlock with Rev.

David J. Wooten Jr. officiating. A visitation will be on Friday from 11 a.m.m to noon at the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, 21802-1733. fore graduating from Mount Hermon School in Massachusetts. After graduating from the McIntire School of Commerce of the University of Virginia in 1937, he sold fertilizer in Virginia and West Virginia. During World War II, he served his country as an officer in the U.S.

Marine Corps in New Zealand and New Caledonia. Later, as a businessman with Connell Brothers he and his family lived in the San Francisco Bay area, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Guam, and South Korea. In 1976, he and his wife retired to the Cambridge area. During the course of his business career and retirement, the Wolcotts enjoyed extensive travels, visiting all seven continents (including Antarctica), the islands of Micronesia, Melanesia, Polynesia and all regions of North America. He was an active Rotarian for more than 40 years.

He also enjoyed volunteer work at Beckwith United Methodist Church, Blackwater Wildlife National Refuge, the Dorchester County Historical Meredith House, the Dorchester Family YMCA and Meals on Wheels before moving to Londonderry Retirement Community in Easton. At Londonderry, Mr. Wolcott continued to contribute to his community through service on its Board and various committees. Mr. Walcott is survived by a son, Bill Walcott and wife, Yasuko, of New Market, and two daughters, Barbara Walcott and husband, Edwin Sapp, of Hillsdale, N.J., and Jean Walcott Wilson and husband.

Rev. David Wilson of Aberdeen; five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, John Walcott of Harpers Ferry, W.Va. and a sister, Marguerite DeDapper of Westport, Conn. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan.

21, at 11 a.m. at Londonderry, 700 Port St. in Easton. In- urnment will follow at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chesapeake College Foundation, P.O.
