Page 8A Times-Record July 17, 2002 Obituaries Lina Mae Ritter DENTON Lina Mae Ritter of Denton died Monday, July 8, 2002, at Memorial Hospital in Easton. She was 91. Born in Davidson County, N.C., on Oct. 21, 1910, Mrs. Ritter was the daughter of the late Thomas O.

Dail and Nettie Heath Dail. Mrs. Ritter was a homemaker. In 1968 she moved with her family to Denton from Little Falls, N.J., where she had lived for the previous 25 years. She was an active member of the Caroline County American Association of Retired Persons Chapter 915 and was an active member of the St.

United Methodist Church in Denton. Her husband, William B. Ritter, died Jan. 12, 1984. One son, Robert Eckhart; three brothers, Lonnie Dail, Henry Dail, Jesse Dail; and one sister, Sara Rice, are also deceased.

Mrs. Ritter is survived by two sons, Ernest Ritter of Denton and Wayne Ritter and his wife, Leigh Ann Ritter of Raleigh, N.C.; one sister, Irene Lipcomb of Gaffney, S.C.; a second daughter-in-law, Mary Anne Eckhart of Forked River, N.J.; nine grandchildren, Theresa A. Daley, Christina A. Ritter, Cindy L. Ritter, Carl Taris, Marc Taris, Jackson Ritter, Thomas A.

Eckhart, Michele M. De- Ceglia, Andrea R. Nucifora; and six great-grandchildren, Thomas Chrystal, Alexis, Kaitlyn, Christopher and Ashley. Funeral services were held Friday, July 12, at St. United Methodist Church in Denton.

Burial was at Denton Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Camp Pecometh Fund, St. United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 66, Denton, Md. 21629.

Rev. Robert A. Briggs FEDERALSBURG The Rev. Robert Alton Briggs of Federalsburg died July 6, 2002, at Salisbury Rehabilitation Center in Salisbury. He was 92.

Services were held on July 13 at Park Lane Church of God in Federalsburg. Burial was at Cemetery, Williamsburg. Arrangements by Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Hurlock. Mary E. Good DENTON Mary Ellen Good of Denton died Tuesday, July 9, 2002, in McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital in Oxford, Ohio.

She was 86 years old. Born in Celina, Ohio on Sept. 17, 1915, Mrs. Good was the daughter of the late Delbert Allison and Freida Ellen Green. She was a homemaker and had lived in Denton for 32 years coming from Dayton, Ohio.

About a year and a half ago, she moved back to Somerville, Ohio. For many years she was a receptionist for Phillips Dry Cleaners and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Denton. On Nov. 24, 1948, she married John W. Good.

Mr. Good died on Nov. 17, 1991. Mrs. Good is survived by two sons, Lester C.

Good of Camden, Ohio, and Charles D. Allison of Dayton, Ohio; one brother, James M. Allison of Summerfield, 11 grandchildren; and many great- grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren. One brother, Robert G. Allison, and one sister, Freida Allison, are deceased.

Funeral services were Monday, July 15, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A., 12 S. Second St. in Denton. Interment will be in Denton Cemetery, Denton. Geraldine V.

Wright DENTON Geraldine V. Wright, 66, died July 10, 2002, at Genesis ElderCare-The Pines, Easton. Services were Tuesday, July 16, at Bells Chapel A.M.E. Church, Denton. Burial was at Spring Grove Cemetery.

Services are by Ryland Funeral Home, Wilmington, Del. Helen E. Laramore HARRINGTON, Del. Helen E. Laramore of Harrington, died Monday, July 8, 2002, at Harbor Health and Rehabilitation Center in Lewes, Del.

She was 79. Born in Newark, Miss Laramore was the daughter of the late William Algia Laramore and Virginia Porter Laramore. She was a homemaker. Miss Laramore is survived by one niece, with whom she lived, Beatrice C. Laramore of Harrington, and one sister-in- law, Patricia A.

Laramore of Elkton. Three brothers, Charles Laramore, Ralph Laramore, Theodore Laramore, and one sister, Ethel Butterworth, are deceased. Funeral services were held Thursday, July 11, at the Moore Funeral Home in Denton. Burial was at Denton Cemetery. Box 43, Federalsburg, Md. 21632. Wayman A. Scott ELLICOTT CITY Wayman A. Scott Jr.

of Ellicott City died Sunday, July 7, 2002, in Howard County General Hospital. He was 79. Mr. Scott was born Sept. 5, 1922, in Felton, son of the late Wayman Sr.

and Edith E. Scott. He was a graduate of Delaware State College High School. He put himself through college by working various jobs on the campus. He received a degree from Delaware State College in 1944.

Prior to moving to Howard County in 1952, Mr. Scott taught vocational agricultural at the Delaware State College Laboratory High School. He obtained a degree in Secondary School Administration from Loyola College in Baltimore. Following his study at Loyola, as well as the University of Maryland and Michigan State College, he became a science teacher in Baltimore City Public Schools. Aside from teaching, he has held numerous leadership roles in community organizations such as building representative for the Public School Association, a member of the Interracial Commission, chairman of the Howard County Human Relations Commission, and chairman of the Howard County Manpower Committee.

He was serving his second term on the Howard County Property Tax Assessment Appeals Board, to which Gov. Paris Glendening appointed him. Mr. Scott was the founding member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Harry A.

Scott in January 2000. He is survived by his wife, Nova Anderson Scott; a son and daughter-in-law, Wayman III and Carolyn of Columbia; a daughter, Brenda Shivers of Kansas City, six brothers and sisters-in-law, James C. and Lowan Scott of Camden, Lester D. and Alberta Scott of Dover, William L. and Mary Scott of Smyrna, Melvin E.

and Mary Ann Scott of Harrington, Lewis F. and Annette Scott of Ridgely and Daniel M. and Nancy Scott of Takoma Park; two sisters, Margaret S. Bowers of Dover and Edith S. Berry of Philadelphia; five grandchildren, Anglea Scott, Wayman Scott IV, William Alexander, Rhonda Shivers, and Roderick Shivers; 108 nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and very dear friends.

Services were Friday at St. Louis Catholic Church, 12500 Clarksville Pike (Route 108), Clarksville. Burial will be in Crestlawn Cemetery, Clarksville. Helen Nickerson DOVER, Del. Helen D.

Nickerson, of Bridgetown, died Friday, July 12, 2002 at the Kent General Hospital in Dover, Del. She was 84. Born in Price, she was the daughter of the late John Tucker and Elva Mae Carter. Mrs. Nickerson worked for the Chesapeake Publishing Co.

in Centreville as a book binder. She retired in 1980. Mrs. Nickerson enjoyed the slots at Dover Downs, family gatherings and cooking. She also enjoyed watching birds, especially hummingbirds.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Nickerson is predeceased by her husband, Paul W. Nickerson in 1997; two daughters, Shirley A. Conner and Joan Jarrell Courtney; a son, Julian B. Jarrell a grandson, Mickey Pratt; a sister, Virginia Hessey; and a very special cousin, Louise Dodd.

She is survived by three daughters, Elva J. and her husband, Issac Burrows, of Clayton, Pamela Nickerson and her fi- Ernie Richards, of Hartley, and Mary Carpenter, of Mississippi; one son, W. Clinton and his wife, Sheri Wheeler, of Bridgetown, Henderson; one sister, Betty Collins, of Milford, 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great- great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2002, from the Fellows, Helfenbein Newnam Funeral Home, 370 W.

Cypress Millington, Md. Burial will be in the Sudlersville Cemetery, Sudlersville. Zelma Holland HURLOCK Zelma Agnes Holland Butler, known as of Hurlock, died Thursday, July 11, 2002. She was 70. Born April 25, 1932, in Petersburg, Dorchester County, she was the daughter of the late John Frances and Lola Adams Butler.

She attended public schools in Dorchester County. She had been employed by the former Caroline Poultry, Gadows, and Jack LeGates Canning. Mrs. Holland is survived by two sisters, Alice Jenkins of Greenwood, and Christine Williamson of Dorchester, and many nieces and nephews. Deceased are six sisters, Helen Stanley, Mary Lake, Lena Montgomery, Mildred Nichols, Ida Mae Bolden and Katherine Simms, and four brothers, Alfred Butler, Wilbert Butler, Franklin Butler and Raymond Butler.

Services were held Tuesday, July 16, at Framptom-Hawkins- Eskow Funeral Home P.A. Interment was at Federal Hill Cemetery, Federalsburg.
