Jillian Brady CHESTERTOWN Jillian Hayman Brady, of Chestertown, died on April 4, 2012 after a long struggle with various cancers. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Christopher A. Brady; and her brothers, John of Bear, and Bill of Mount Joy, and many nieces and nephews. Jill enjoyed cooking, gardening, camping and spending time with her many friends. A celebration of her life will be held at the Chestertown Elks Club on Saturday, April 14, 2012 from 1 to 5 p.m.

Shelly Crowder PRINCE Shelly Sherman Crowder, 46, of Prince George, passed away on Monday, April 9, 2012. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles H. Sherman; and her sister, Lisa Erin Sherman.

Shelly was an active supporter of the Special Olympics, and was a member of Oakland Baptist Church. Shelly was a graduate of the University of Richmond with summa cum laude honors. She was very strong and courageous and was admired by so many people. She was currently serving as a police officer in Prince George County, and had been there 10 years. Shelly organized, coordinated, or was actively involved in the following: Post Explorer Advisor, Certified Crime Prevention Specialist, Fatal Crash Investigation Team, Gotcha! Program Coordinator, Watch, Prince George Promise Program, Torch Run and Polar Plunge Organizer, Relay for Life Coordinator, Certified Child Safety Technician, Volunteers in Police Service Program Coordinator (VIPS), General Law Enforcement Instructor, and the photographer for the Community Policing Unit.

Shelly was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her husband, James F. Crowder; two sons, Jamie and Joshua Hughes; two step-sons, Keith and Bryan Crowder; her mother, Sandra Jean Hall and husband Clifford; two sisters, Kimberly S. Barroll, and Stacey Weisner and husband, Mike; numerous nieces, nephews, fellow police officers and friends; and her two beloved dogs, Molly and Zack. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Thursday, April 12, 2012 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Oakland Baptist Church, 12601 Prince George Disputanta, with the Rev. Robert Livesay officiating.

Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com. Anna Evans CRISFIELD Anna Evans, 77, of Crisfield, died Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Born in Crisfield on June 3, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Clifton H.

Butler Sr. and Anna Harrison Butler. Her first husband, John H. Anderson, died August 29, 1962, and her second husband, Roy Woodland Evans, died March 8, 1998. She was a homemaker and a home health care provider.

In her younger years, she was a member of Phoenix United Methodist Church, and later, Mariners United Methodist Church. She enjoyed working in her flower gardens, shopping, decorating for each season, and she loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was also very stylish and took pride in her appearance. She is survived by three children, Cheryl Anderson Jacobs, John H. Anderson Jr.

and wife Vickie, all of Chestertown, and Tina Denise Evans Jones of Crisfield; five grandchildren, Anna Elizabeth Jacobs, Jaye- Alexis Jacobs, Kristen Anderson Nordhoff, John H. Anderson III, and Brittany Anne Hoffman; two great- grandchildren, Aerianna Edwards and Landon Nordhoff; her brothers and sisters, Charles Butler of Ellicott City, Elmo Butler of Salisbury, and Sarah Gerald and Jo Wooster, both of Crisfield; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husbands, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Virginia Cox, Kay Linton and Allene Lord; and three brothers, Clifton H. Butler who died in World War II, Richard Butler and Oliver Butler. Funeral services were held April 9 at Bradshaw Sons Funeral Home in Crisfield.

Lambert CHESTERTOWN On Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at 12:21 a.m., David M.F. Lambert passed away at his home on the Chester River. Mr. Lambert was born March 30, 1925 in Hartford, the son of the Rev. Frank Lambert and Barbara Murlless Lambert.

He was raised on the Eastern Shore of Maryland in Cambridge, and in Baltimore. He attended Gilman School in Baltimore, leaving during his senior year to serve his country in the Army Air Corps during World War ll. Upon returning from the war he attended and graduated from Trinity College in Connecticut and received his law degree from Cornell University Law School in New York. Mr. Lambert began his long and distinguished career as a special agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation; followed by positions as director of contracts with Rockwell International, Hughes Tool Company, and Hughes Aircraft Company.

He was requested to and accepted a position as legislative attorney in the office of the U.S. Comptroller General from which he moved on to become the Director of Office of Domestic Business Policy and the Director of Small Business Policy for the Department of Defense. He subsequently served at the General Counsel of the Renegotiations Board and finally as the General Counsel of the Small Business Administration. He left government service in 1977 and went into private practice. Mr.

Lambert was a respected member of the American Bar Association, The Federal Bar Association, and the District of Columbia Bar Association. He was admitted to practice at the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals for Federal Court, and the Court of Federal Claims. He wrote or contributed to numerous articles related to the understanding and practice of contract law in America.

He was a founding editor of the National Contract Management Journaland lectured on contract and procurement law. He enjoyed working with young lawyers and authored a book titled Mentor Protege From early childhood sailing on the Chesapeake Bay with his family David was a passionate and accomplished sailor, frequently participating in races in the Chesapeake Bay and in the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a devout Christian and a member of Emanuel Episcopal Church in Chestertown Mr. Lambert is survived by his wife Clare Jenkins Lambert; his son David M.F.

Lambert his daughter Penelope Easter Lambert; his step-daughter Clare Manley Boyce; his stepsons Thomas Richard Watkins and Michael E. J. Watkins; and his brother Frank Lambert of New London, Conn. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 4 p.m. at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Chestertown.

Arrangements by Fellows, Helfenbein Newnam Funeral Home, Millington. Louise Singer DENTON Louise Dukes Singer, of Denton, died Monday, April 9, 2012, at the Caroline Nursing Home. She was 95 years old.

Born in Hynson on April 22, 1916, Mrs. Singer was the daughter of the late Albert Gradles Dukes and Mary Catherine Stafford Dukes. Her husband of 69 years, Paul C. Singer, died December 19, 2003. Mrs.

Singer had lived in Caroline County all of her life and was a 1934 graduate of Caroline High School in Denton. She worked with her husband in their Denton Texaco station for many years and drove a Caroline County school bus in the 1960s and 1970s. In 1948, she organized the Denton Volunteer Fire Co. Auxiliary and was its first president. She was a life member of both the DVFC Auxiliary and the DVFC where she was an EMT and ambulance driver.

She was active in the Caroline County Association Auxiliary, numerous past presidencies (more than 25 years) of Delmarva Association, the Maryland State Association, past president of the State Association Auxiliary, and was a member of St. United Methodist Church in Denton where she was a past member of the Sarah Circle. She was also a charter member of the Tuckahoe Steam and Gas Association, having held the position of secretary. Mrs. Singer is survived by one son, Robert D.

Singer and his wife Jean of Denton; two grandsons: David W. Singer and his wife Anne of Chestertown and Wesley P. Singer and his wife Lucille of Greensboro; and one great granddaughter, Ashley Kramer Singer; and one step- great granddaughter, Rachel Bradley. She is predeceased by three brothers: Carlton Dukes, Albert Dukes and Ralph Dukes; and one sister, Dorothy Dukes. Funeral services will be 2 p.m.

on Saturday, April 14, at the Moore Funeral Home, 12 S. Second St. in Denton where friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday. The interment will be in the Denton Cemetery, 24865 Meeting House Road, Denton.

Born May 23, 1919, in Wytopitlock, Aroostook County, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Roland Bruce Pride and the late Avilla Bertha Brown Pride. Jean graduated from Gorham Normal School in Gorham, Maine, and was a World War II veteran serving as a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1943 to 1945. She was a freelance writer, author of the book Stamp and numerous articles and book reviews. She was also employed by the Queen County Record Observer during the 1960s.

Jean is survived by her husband of 66 years, Stanley Stearns of Germantown; a daughter, Marron Pride Stearns of Portland, Maine; a son, Rogan Stearns and his wife Lynn, of Germantown; two grandsons, John Stearns and Richard Stearns; three great- grandchildren, Cody, Nathan and Ashlynn Stearns, and an uncle, Fleetwood Pride. Albert Vansant GALENA Albert Pratt Vansant, of Galena, died at Smith Creek Assisted Living, in Warwick, on April 8, 2012, at the age of 86.

Mr. Vansant was born in Kent County, the son of the late Grace and Albert Vansant. Mr. Pratt, was born into a farming family and had the heart and soul of a farmer all his life. He was a dairy farmer for over 25 years, after which he came to become a manager of the Gillespie Sons concrete plant in Chestertown for over 30 years.

His service to the community included years of leadership in the Masons as a 32-degree Scottish Rite freemason of the Chester Lodge No. 115, and a longtime member of Gideons International. He had a deep faith in God and love of Jesus Christ. He was a lifelong United Methodist and member of the Asbury United Methodist Church in Millington. He enjoyed car trips across the country with Lois, his late, beloved wife of 67 years.

Reading western novels and watching western movies and television shows were a few of his favorite pastimes. Family get-togethers with the extend- ed families of his four siblings and five children provided memorable occasions for food, laughter, softball games, and an overall good time. His wit, wisdom, unflagging determination, and courageous fortitude are a continuous inspiration and model for all who were fortunate enough to know and love him. He is survived by his brother, Albert E. Vansant and his wife Lois of Georgetown; sisters Dorothy Davidson and her husband Clem of Millington, Betty Coleman and her husband Bill of Worton, and Janet Walmsley of Middletown, daughters Susan Gale Smith and her husband Mitchell of Charlottesville, and Christine Walters and her husband Douglas of Galena; sons Levin Elliott VanSant and his wife Nancy of Felton, Walter Randolph Vansant and his wife Bonnie of Gordonsville, and Fletcher Pratt Vansant of Elkton; grandchildren Kelly Young, Traci VanSant, Kim VanSant, Michael VanSant, Erin Rittenhouse, Jessica Smith, Brian Walters, Eric Walters, Lois Cole, Whitney Shifflett, Alycia Vansant and Alexandra Vansant; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 14 at 2 p.m. in the Fellows, Helfenbein Newnam Funeral Home, 130 Spear Road, Chestertown. Interment will follow at the Chester Cemetery, Chestertown. Box 107, Galena, MD 21635. John Warner BEL AIR John Jiles Warner, of Bel AIr, passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2012 at Gilchrist Hospice Center in Towson. He was 84 years old. Mr. Warner was born on June 30, 1927 in Rock Hall.

He was the son of the late Roland O. and Alice Dowling Warner, and brother of the late Lorraine Warner Dadabo. He attended Rock Hall High School. Mr. Warner proudly served in the United States Army in Panama from 1945 to 1948, and was called back to service from 1950 to 1951.

After being honorably discharged, he worked at the Sealtest Milk Receiving Station until 1963. Mr. Warner moved on to work as a professional firefighter at the Aberdeen Proving Ground in Aberdeen. In 1983 he retired and spent 14 years living in Vero Beach, Fla. Mr.

Warner returned to Maryland in 1997, where he then resided in Bel Air. He married Bernice Kelley of Rock Hall on July 1, 1950. They were blessed with a 61-year marriage. Mr. Warner was a member of the Rock Hall Volunteer Fire Company, Susquehanna Hose Company, Boy Scout Troop 967, Hopewell United Methodist Church, American Legion Post No.

47, Disabled American Veterans, and the Elks Lodge No. 5164. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Pamela (Warner) Tetrick and her late husband Mike of Winter Springs, and a son, J. Keith Warner and wife Tammy of Bel Air; and four granddaughters, Rebecca, Brandi, Katie and Kristen. He is also survived by two nieces, Suzanne Lucas and Margaret Hanson.

Graveside service was held Tuesday, April 10 at Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Rock Hall. A memorial service will take place at Hopewell United Methodist Church in Level, at a later date.
