The St. County Historical Society held its annual fall dinner on Nov. 3 at Olde Breton Inn. The guest speaker was Eve Love, who gave a presenta- tion based on her new book titled, The Base: Cedar Point Before the Patuxent River Naval Air Welcoming remarks were given by Adm. Tim Heely, pres- ident of the historical society, and by Peter LaPorte, exec- utive director of the historical society.

The invocation was offered by the Rev. Tim Benson, pastor of Grace Commu- nity Church of Southern Maryland. Eve Love is a native of St. County and is a student of history and genealogy. She has taught genealogy classes at the College of Southern Maryland and is a long-time mem- ber of the St.

County Historical Society. Eve assisted her husband, John Cook, with compiling data for The book. John is a retired elementary school teacher; he continues to teach for the Museum Stud- ies Program at St. College of Maryland. Upcoming historical society events include the lecture Murder In St.

Light Up the Town Join the mayor and town council of Chesapeake Beach for the annual Light Up the Town and Christmas Market event on Nov. 26 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the town hall. This is a free event which offers community celebration and gathering as the mayor switches on the lighting display for all to see. A new addition will be an ice skating rink equipped with skates.

Ice skating and fun for all ages will be available in the Kellams Complex parking lot from 3 to 7 p.m. Light Up the Town begins with live performances by the Beach Elementary School String Orchestra and the cheer continues with the sounds of carolers, visits with Santa, a live 360-holiday photo booth, treats from local bakeries and the Christmas market filled with greenery wreaths and gifts from local businesses. Recipe of the week Cranberry Freeze By Ellynne Davis Ingredients 4 cups white (or red) cranberry juice cup plus cup craisins (more, to taste) 3 tablespoons raspberry-flavored dessert wine (or any other fruit- or berry-flavored dessert wine) Pour cups juice into a or glass or metal bak- ing dish; freeze. Every 2 hours or so, scape with a fork, then return dish to freezer until frozen solid.

When ready to serve, remove dish from freezer and let sit for a few moments. Scrape with fork again and top with additional craisins. If you cannot drive but still want to serve, delivery route coordinators and board members are also needed.
